Are you always overthinking? Are your thought patterns mostly negative? I believe that challenges in life can be traced back to maladaptive thinking patterns and beliefs. If you are looking to improve your mood and situation, and are prepared to self-reflect, I’d love to work with you! It’s time you invest in yourself and in the process.
Why did I decide on my current profession?
I’m a very sensitive individual and responsive listener. I helped guide many people through their challenges and I wanted to devote my time to doing that. I help clients realize where their experience is coming from – that it’s their thoughts that are the “problem,” not their situation. Often a person can’t change their situation (past or present) but one can always change how they relate to it. Through discussions about the origin of thoughts and mood swings, the client begins to understand their mental traps and begins to embrace their innate abilities and strengths.
What do I like most about what I do?
I love having a role in helping to improve someone’s life.
FAQ with Michael
What does integrative wellbeing mean to you?
It is a comprehensive, holistic approach to health care and wellbeing. For me it means to consider all aspects of life in the treatment of a client.
What do you want your clients to know about you and what it's like to work with you?
I’m an easy person to talk to. I’m supportive and non-judgmental. I love people and clients feel that acceptance. I always endeavour to meet the client where they are at, meaning, I don’t pry or take a client to a “place” where they are uncomfortable going. At the same time, I will challenge clients to help them become fully aware of the source of their “problem” and the solution.
What do you think are the biggest misconceptions about therapy?
I think the biggest misconceptions about therapy is a stuffy room with an even stuffier therapist. Therapy is meant to be a dynamic and exciting process. Imagine going into a session with a particular mindset and leaving with an entirely new perspective about your “problem,” your abilities and a better understanding of others. Therapy is a place to discover, to laugh and to cry should the need arise. I believe that good therapy enables a client to see him/herself and the world in a new light.
What excites you about mental health?
The thing that excites me about therapy is the ability to help bring out a client’s inner wisdom and abilities. I believe that everyone has a wellspring of wisdom to guide them through life. It simply has to be uncovered.
What do your clients say about you?
My clients say that I’m an easy person to talk to. They look forward to sessions and usually leave the session in a better mood than the one they came in with.
What do you want to say to someone struggling with mental illness or emotional difficulty?
If you’ve decided to come to therapy you are 50% there. Therapy is about improving your quality of life. The choice to do so is a huge and crucial first step. Once that choice is made, the other 50% will depend on the right therapist and your continued commitment.
What’s your favourite quote or personal mantra?
“There is nothing more whole than a broken heart.”
What’s your favourite hobby or past time?
Listening to a good podcast, emotionally moving music, and gardening.
What’s your favourite drink and how do you take it?
My favourite drink is Coke Zero. Ideally taken with a really good steak.

1. Nature walks
2. Saturday afternoon naps
